Tummy Time Facts

Experts recommend about 30 minutes of tummy time a day for infants in order to help nurture and encourage fine and gross motor skills. Tummy time encourages babies to push up on their hands and arms, this helps to develop the strong shoulder, arm and hand muscles required for grasping and reaching.

According to the  Paediatric Society  babies should always sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Although this can also cause cranial disfiguration otherwise referred as flattening of the back of the skull.  This is why it is so important for babies to receive supervised tummy time to encourage their proper development and growth.
